We are seeking an Events Specialist to join our team and help make a difference for children in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Events Specialist will serve as the lead on the organization’s annual and special events, including fundraising, cultivation and stewardship, and legislative events. In addition, the Events Specialist will assist with training events and conferences, and various projects and tasks related to the organization’s communications and fundraising goals. This position is full-time, located at the Children’s Trust office in Boston, with the option to have a hybrid schedule.

Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main event lead – or Producer – in planning creative, inspirational events that powerfully communicate the Children’s Trust impact and need for support
  • Oversee all event logistics (event timelines, venue scheduling, auctions, etc.)
  • Manage and solicit in-kind donations for event auctions and raffles; plan and write descriptions; package items for display
  • Manage event registrations and event technology
  • Help create communication and follow-up plans for event attendees
  • Recommend, develop, and track budgets for each event
  • Choose and manage vendor relationships for external event services as needed (A/V, caterers, entertainment, bartenders, etc.)
  • Recruit, train, and supervise event volunteers
  • Work closely with Marketing in developing collateral and messaging for events
  • Event support on trainings and conferences as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in event management and planning or marketing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Creativity, goal orientation, productivity, enthusiasm, and an ability to effectively articulate the mission of the Children’s Trust are essential
  • Attention to detail and quality at all times
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of software applications such as excel, project management systems, and event software systems
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to take initiative
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage and complete multiple tasks
  • Ability to prepare timely documents and reports accurately
  • Familiarity of fundraising principles and the philanthropic climate in Massachusetts preferred
