The Children's Trust and Child Care of the Berkshires marked Child Abuse Prevention Month in Berkshire County at a Step Up For Kids event in front of Pittsfield City Hall. 122 pairs of shoes on the steps of City Hall represented the number of confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect every month in the Berkshires. State Rep. William "Smitty" Pignatelli was given the "Western Massachusetts Champion for Children" award for his long-term commitment to the children and families of Massachusetts.
