FAN (Facilitating Attuned iNteractions) Training
Training description
The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health is sponsoring the Children’s Trust’s training on the Facilitating Attuned Interactions approach, which we refer to as FAN. Developed by Erikson Institute, the intent of the FAN approach is to strengthen the provider-parent relationship, resulting in parents who are attuned to their children and ready to try new ways of relating to them. The FAN approach ensures practitioners read cues from parents and themselves and thus, provide empathetic and appropriate responses.
To support the integration of the FAN approach into practice, staff are required to attend the training with their teams and their supervisor; we are looking for supervisors and teams of 3 to 4 to attend this training.
After this three-day virtual training, the staff will begin the process of working with their supervisors to reflect on their experiences using the FAN by completing FAN Self-Reflection Tools and FAN Learning Tools. Staff will then be required to attend the virtual FAN Integration Training on Wednesday, June 2, 2027, from 9:00AM-12:00PM. Please find more information about the training, requirements of participation, and the FAN approach in the menu above.
The deadline to submit an application to participate in this training is Friday, November 13, 2026, by 5:00PM. Program Supervisors, please complete this application for your team. Staff will be informed of their acceptance no later than Monday, November 23, 2026. Staff who are accepted to attend this training will be required to complete a registration form prior to the start of the training.
