Educational Series: Collective Wellbeing Beyond Child Protection
Training description
This educational series, hosted by Massachusetts’ Initiative to Reduce Child Neglect, dives deeper into the data, builds shared understanding, and supports consistent, informed decision-making across the initiative. Presented by kate warren barnes, this session will share key findings from her research on how child welfare systems impact families, including those not directly involved.
Drawing on lived experiences and research, the webinar will explore how fear of system involvement shapes decision-making for families, particularly Black mothers, and what this means for prevention efforts. The discussion will focus on what families, advocates, and communities need from systems to support wellbeing beyond traditional child protection approaches.
