Cummings and Riley Foundations Help Create SAFE Child Communities

share:

Last year, the Children’s Trust was awarded two $100,000 grants from the Cummings Foundation and the Mabel Louise Riley Foundation to develop a framework for the implementation and evaluation of our SAFE (Stop Abuse For Every) Child Communities initiative.

The initiative is a bold enterprise which will mobilize communities, parents, and service providers. The cutting-edge, evidence-based model connects families to community resources and raises public awareness in order to create and maintain safe and healthy environments for children.

Thanks to the combined support of the Cummings Foundation and the Riley Foundation, we have successfully set the stage for the launch of a SAFE Child Communities pilot site in 2020.

About the Cummings Foundation: Over its 33-year history, the Cummings Foundation has awarded more than $225 million in grants to Greater Boston nonprofits, making a lasting impression in local communities and the individuals, children, and families whose lives are impacted. Founders, Joyce and Bill Cummings, joined The Giving Pledge early and have committed to donating 90% of their wealth in their lifetime to charitable causes.

About the Mabel Louise Riley Foundation: The Mabel Louise Riley Foundation has generously prioritized the diverse needs of MA children and youth throughout its 47-year history. Last year, the Foundation committed more than $3.2 million to 52 nonprofits focused on arts and culture, community development and housing, education and training, human services, and the urban environment.
