Thank you to everyone who attended and presented at our 29th Annual #AViewfromAllSides virtual conference!
On Thursday, November 4, more than 600 participants came together to attend our 29th Annual A View from All Sides conference. Over the past 25 years nearly 15,000 family support professionals have participated in our conferences.
This year it was an honor to welcome Jessica A. Pryce, PhD, Executive Director of the Florida Institute for Child Welfare and Ibram X. Kendi, PhD, MA, award-winning author, historian, scholar, and Founding Director of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research as our keynote speakers.
Dr. Pryce’s keynote address “Creating Systemic Change in Family Support: Advancing Racial Equity and Inclusion,” explained that to change systems, we all must look inward. She guided the audience to identify their own personal philosophies, mindsets, and values and shared how shifting those toward anti-racism will lead to true systemic change.
The afternoon session kicked off with a conversation with Dr. Pryce and Dr. Kendi. Their insightful conversation explored racism, its poisonous consequences, and addressed how we must continue to identify racism so that we can dismantle it. Dr. Kendi shared what an antiracist society might look like and how we can play an active role in building it.
Throughout the day, experts shared cutting edge information on a broad range of topics including conducting virtual supervised visits with families with cognitive and intellectual challenges, working with families impacted by substance use disorder, nurturing children impacted by trauma and many more presentations designed to help family support, early education and care, and other human service programs support children and families.
Congratulations, Sue Jones, Fran Litman Award Recipient!
