Last week, the Children’s Trust hosted an important conversation at the Massachusetts State House about the impact and future of home visiting programs in the Commonwealth.

Healthy Families Massachusetts (HFM) is a shining example of how investing in early support for families not only prevents child abuse and neglect but also contributes to better health outcomes, reduces poverty, and increases housing stability—benefits that ripple through generations.

Earlier this year at our annual Celebration Day, Andrew McKnight spoke to a crowd of family support professionals to share his experience with Healthy Families Massachusetts, a home-based family support and coaching program that supports first-time parents aged 23 and under to help them create stable, nurturing environments for their children.

When we can provide families with stable housing options, food assistance, childcare, and other economic assistance, we are providing concrete supports helping families meet their basic needs and ultimately helping prevent child abuse and neglect.

The Healthy Families Financial Pilot aims to provide immediate financial relief and support parents in creating a more stable environment for their families
