Stronger Families Start with Home Visiting
How home visiting helps families build stability, improve child health, and strengthen early development.
In recognition of National Home Visiting Week, the Children’s Trust and the Massachusetts Home Visiting Initiative, led by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, have released a new video that shows what this work really looks like, and why it matters.
Home visiting isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s built on relationships.
Trained professionals partner with families during pregnancy and the early years of a child’s life. They show up consistently, listen without judgment, and offer support that reflects each family’s culture, strengths, and goals.

That kind of connection leads to real, measurable outcomes.
When families have access to home visiting, outcomes improve for both parents and children. Home visiting helps to:
- Increase parents’ understanding of early childhood development, which can reduce stress and uncertainty
- Identify developmental delays early, so children are better prepared for school
- Strengthen co-parenting relationships, including meaningful involvement from fathers
Home visiting also plays a critical role in strengthening family wellbeing and reducing the risk of abuse and neglect. It focuses on what families need to succeed, not just what happens when things go wrong.
When parents feel supported, informed, and connected, things start to shift. Kids are healthier. Families are more stable. Communities are stronger.
This week, we’re recognizing the home visiting workforce and the impact they have every day, often out of the spotlight.
