BOSTON, MA (June 19, 2017) – The Children’s Trust, an organization on a mission to stop child abuse in Massachusetts, honored Robert K. Bob Coughlin receives the first-ever Governor Paul Cellucci Fatherhood Award for his dedication to supporting children and families.

The Children’s Trust selected Mr. Coughlin as its honoree for his dedication to supporting children and families, his commitment to and passion for his own children, and his impressive philanthropic work on behalf of Cystic Fibrosis and Boston Children’s Hospital among others.

“As a father, corporate leader, and public servant, Mr. Coughlin is a role model and an outstanding example of the important role fathers play,” said Suzin Bartley, Executive Director of the Children’s Trust. “He is living testimony that when fathers are actively involved in their children’s lives, the whole family thrives,” added Bartley. “We are thrilled to be honoring Mr. Coughlin.”

“The Children’s Trust works every day to ensure all children can grow up in safe and healthy environments and become tomorrow’s leaders,” said Robert Coughlin, President and CEO of MassBio and the 2017 Governor Paul Cellucci Fatherhood Award recipient. “As one of six boys and now a father of three, I understand the critical role fathers play in raising happy and healthy kids. I’m proud to receive this award and to support the Children’s Trust’s important mission.”

The Children’s Trust Fatherhood Initiative works to advance evidence-based programs and trainings that support fathers, their families, and the professionals who work with them. The organization is working to raise greater awareness of the important role fathers play in the wellbeing of their children and families.

The “Celebrating Fatherhood Brunch” shined a spotlight on this important issue and helped raise critical funds for the Children’s Trust Fatherhood Initiative and other programs. The Governor Paul Cellucci Fatherhood Award is named in memory of the late Governor Cellucci out of respect and gratitude for his incredible leadership in this area and past support of the Children’s Trust.

Parents and children in attendance were able to play in the museum before heading upstairs for breakfast and the award presentation. An informal poll found the bubble room and the Explore-a-Saurus dinosaur exhibit as the favorites of both kids and dads.
