the children’s trust honors roger donoghue


BOSTON (Oct. 8, 2013) – Children’s Trust, a leading family support organization, recently honored Roger Donoghue of the Boston law firm Donoghue Barrett & Singal, P.C., for his advocacy for families and children during his 19 years as a member of its Board of Directors. Donoghue received the recognition at the 25th Anniversary Children’s Trust Gala and Auction held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Mr. Donoghue joined the Board of Directors in 1994 and was served as Chair since 2006. He is stepping down as Chair this year but will continue to serve on the board. He has serve on the Executive, Legislative and Strategic Planning committees.

James Rooney, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, will replace Mr. Donoghue as Chair.

“We honor Roger not only for his support of our work, but for his steadfast commitment to improving the lives of children and families in Massachusetts,” said Suzin Bartley, Executive Director of Children’s Trust.

Mr. Donoghue is a co-founder and senior partner at Donoghue Barrett & Singal, where he heads the law firm’s Government Relations department and specializes in legislative and regulatory affairs, lobbying and business strategies.

Bruce Singal, owner and equity partner of the firm, and Paul Barrett, managing partner, presented Mr. Donoghue with the award.

“Those of us who work with Roger at Donoghue Barrett & Singal are honored by the profound contributions he has made as the Chair of the Children’s Trust.  His work has enhanced the quality of life for countless children and families.  We couldn’t be prouder,” they said in a statement released by their firm.

Mr. Donoghue previously worked as Director of Public Affairs for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce from 1979 to 1981. He then served as the Massachusetts Director of Government Relations for the National Federation of Independent Business. From 1986 to 1988, he was engaged in the private practice of law as a sole practitioner.

He received a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Holy Cross College in Worcester. He is a member of the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations.

Mr. Donoghue lives in Concord. He has three grown sons: Patrick, Conor and Brendon.

Over 500 people attended the Children’s Trust Gala & Auction, which marked the 25th anniversary of the agency’s founding. During the event, Children’s Trust announced its new logo and branding. The organization was previously named Children’s Trust Fund.
